Independent feature film "Red Dirt" has begun shooting in Meridian, Miss. The film stars Karen Black, Walton Goggins ("The Apostle"), Aleksa Palladino ("Manny & Lo") and Dan Montgomery.

"Red Dirt" is the story of Griffith (Montgomery), a young man at a crossroads in his life. Caring for his ailing Aunt Summer (Black) and dealing with in independent relationship with his cousin Emily (Palladino) has kept him tied to his hometown. Yearning to leave, he's prompted by an outsider, Lee (Goggins), with whom Griffith shares a special bond.

The movie is the first feature for writer-director Tag Purvis. Sean Gibbons is producing for Sweet Tea Production, Inc., Inc.
